Your Massage Guide
Select a question below for more information.
How is my massage customized?
Before your massage, you can discuss the pressure you prefer, areas where you notice tension, and any areas you would like your therapist to focus on or avoid. Your therapist can adjust the pace, pressure, and techniques during the session based on your feedback.
What are the potential benefits of massage?
Many guests choose massage for relaxation, a break from everyday stress, and attention to areas of muscular tension. Your experience will depend on the massage style, your preferences, and how your body responds. Results vary from person to person.
Massage is a wellness service and does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment.
How often should I schedule a massage?
There is no single schedule that works for everyone. Some guests book occasionally, while others choose a regular appointment as part of their relaxation routine. Consider your goals, schedule, budget, and how you feel after each session.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Consider arriving 5–10 minutes early, especially for your first visit. Eat and drink according to your normal needs, and avoid a very heavy meal immediately before your massage if that makes you uncomfortable.
Let your therapist know about relevant injuries, recent procedures, physical limitations, heat sensitivities, and any areas you would like avoided. You can also share your pressure preference and ask questions before the session begins.
What should I wear?
For some Thai bodywork or assisted stretching sessions, comfortable clothing may be appropriate. For a table massage using oil or lotion, your therapist will explain how to prepare and give you privacy.
Professional draping is used during table massage. Only the area being worked on is uncovered as appropriate.
Does deep tissue massage have to hurt?
No. Deep tissue massage does not require you to tolerate excessive discomfort. Tell your therapist if the pressure feels too strong or if you would like a different approach. You can request lighter pressure at any time.
Can I ask you to avoid certain areas?
Yes. You can ask your therapist to avoid any area for any reason, before or during your massage. You can also change your mind about pressure, positioning, or an area of focus while the session is underway.
Is it okay to be quiet or fall asleep?
Absolutely. You are welcome to rest quietly, and some guests become sleepy during massage. Your therapist may check in briefly about pressure or comfort when needed.
Should I come in if I feel sick?
If you have a fever, a contagious illness, flu-like symptoms, or feel significantly unwell, please reschedule. If you have a medical condition and are unsure whether massage is appropriate, ask an appropriate healthcare professional before booking.
What should I do after my massage?
Give yourself a moment to get up and transition back into your day. Drink water according to your normal needs and pay attention to how you feel. If you feel very relaxed after your session, take your time before returning to strenuous activity.
Is tenderness after a massage possible?
Mild, temporary tenderness can sometimes occur after deeper or unfamiliar massage techniques. Tell your therapist if you prefer gentler pressure. If you experience severe, persistent, or unusual pain, seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional.
What is an herbal compress?
A warm herbal compress may be included in selected massage sessions. Its warmth and gentle compression can add a comforting element to your experience. Tell your therapist if the temperature feels too warm or if you prefer to skip heat.
Should I choose 60 or 90 minutes?
60 minutes offers time for general relaxation or attention to a few priority areas.
90 minutes allows a slower pace and more time for multiple areas of focus. You can choose the length that best fits your preferences and schedule.
What are your draping and professional boundaries?
Serene Thara Bodywork provides professional massage and bodywork services. Appropriate draping is maintained during table massage, and only the area being worked on is uncovered as appropriate. Sexual or intimate services are not provided.
Please ask if you have any questions about draping, positioning, or boundaries before or during your session.
